[Hanoi Sightseeing] My Experience at a Happy Massage – Neko Nuru Massage Review

Travel

Hello, this is Aosorabouzu.

Following the previous post about Vip Tokyo Massage, this is the second installment of my experience with massage services in Hanoi.
At the end, I’ve shared my personal impressions and compared it with Vip Tokyo Massage, so I hope you’ll enjoy reading it!

1.Introduction to the Shop and Its Services

The place I visited this time appears to have two locations in Hanoi.
I went to the one on the eastern side, which is relatively closer to the tourist areas—located south of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and near the famous Train Street.

You can access the official website of this shop from the link above.
Although I couldn’t find individual profiles of the massage staff, the site does include business hours and detailed service information, so I recommend checking it out in advance.

Here’s a summary of the service and pricing I experienced:

  • 90 minutes in total, for just over $65 USD
  • The service focused on hand and oral techniques (additional charges may apply for certain options)

Similar to Vip Tokyo Massage, the session included extras like a steam sauna, a shared bath, and a full-body massage.
The payment is split—part is paid directly to the masseuse, and the remainder is settled at the front desk.

Tip: The service menu includes a “tip” section, so reviewing the breakdown on the official website in advance will make things smoother.

2.To the massage

Now, let’s head to the shop. As with my previous visit, I didn’t make a reservation in advance.

Just like last time, when I arrived by taxi, a young staff member greeted me at the entrance and guided me to the escalator inside the building.
Once I reached the designated floor, I was handed a placard listing the available plans while sitting on a sofa in the lobby.

The process was quite similar to the previous shop I visited, though there were some differences—such as larger rooms and more premium plans available.

I chose the 90-minute plan I had in mind beforehand and proceeded to the massage room.

3.To be honest, she wasn’t exactly my type…

Soon after I was shown to the room, the massage staff arrived.
There wasn’t really an option to choose from multiple people, so I simply greeted her and welcomed her into the room.

In terms of appearance… I personally preferred the therapist at the previous shop. I’d say around 4 out of 10, if I had to rate it.
She had quite distinct facial features, which weren’t really my type—but that’s just how it goes sometimes.
That said, the main goal here is to relax and refresh through a good massage, after all.

From here, the process was very similar to last time.
First, I entered a steam sauna alone to hydrate my body.
(As a side note, I didn’t mention this in the previous post, but don’t you find that steam saunas do wonders for your throat? With the air getting drier lately, it reminded me how important it is to keep your throat well-moisturized.)

After a few minutes, the therapist prompted me to come out.

Next was a shared bath session.
She carefully washed my body—from my neck all the way to my feet.
Compared to the previous shop, she had a more cheerful personality, which made it easier to have light conversation.
It felt less like a routine and more personal—which made the experience enjoyable overall.

4.Full Massage Treatment

After the bath, I lay face down on the bed, and the massage began.
She started from the neck, worked down my back, and continued all the way to my feet.
Compared to my previous experience, this massage felt more professional and therapeutic. She used a combination of tapping, kneading, and deep pressure along the muscles and bones, which was quite refreshing.

Although I mentioned earlier that she wasn’t exactly my type in terms of looks, the quality of the massage changed my impression.
To be honest, I found myself preferring this experience over my previous visit to Vip Tokyo Massage. The massage felt more refined and satisfying.

One small downside was that, unlike the previous place, this session didn’t include more sensual elements like body-to-body contact or playful touches.
While those aren’t essential for a good massage, I had half-expected them based on past experiences, so it was a slight letdown.

Once the back massage was complete, I turned over and she moved on to massaging my hands and feet.
She continued to apply firm pressure, and it felt genuinely relaxing.
Another nice touch was her effort to communicate using Google Translate, which helped create a friendlier atmosphere.

As the session progressed, the therapist gradually shifted toward a more stimulating style of massage.
Without going into explicit details, let’s just say the final part of the session was deeply relaxing and satisfying.

Afterward, she helped me rinse off, I paid a portion of the fee to her directly, and then settled the remaining balance at the reception before leaving.

5.Which Was Better: Vip Tokyo Massage or This One?

That concludes my experience.
Compared to Vip Tokyo Massage, the price was slightly higher, and honestly, the appearance level of the staff seemed lower this time (though that might have been just my luck).

However, since the massage itself felt very good, I would lean toward revisiting Neko Nuru Massage.

If I had been able to choose the therapist or if someone I preferred had been assigned, it would have been a perfect 100 out of 100.
If I get a chance to visit again during my stay, I’d like to try a different plan and share my impressions!

Thanks so much to everyone who read until the end 🙏
